Handmade lunch and bentos
Welcome to Obento Cafe Hatsugaya! We are a small cafe in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture, featuring home-grown rice served as sprouted brown rice, Wakayama hand-raised meat, and vegetables grown by local farmers we contract with. Our meals are fully handmade, with no additives or other funny stuff, and include homemade pickles, vinegar, mayonnaise, dressings, and other fermented Japanese seasonings. You can eat in our very relaxing Japanese style space, or you can get a bento to go. We serve lunch but if you need a takeout bento earlier or later than that, just give us a call and we will prepare one for you at the time you need.
We are on the way from Tanabe Station to the Kumano Kodo World Heritage Site. If you’re taking the bus, get off at Tazu Intersection (ta-zu kou-sa-ten in Japanese) and follow the walking directions on the map below about 200 meters to Hatsugaya.
